FAFSA Verification

Speakers: Christe LePeau

Every school is required by the Department of Education to confirm the financial information provided on the FAFSA- this process is called Verification. Though it is the Department of Education who randomly selects the students flagged for Verification, it is the responsibility of the school or university to process all documentation. This process can be extensive and is a potential barrier for students who do not have access to needed documents or come from unique tax circumstances. In this session, we will review Verification basics, as well as discuss a few selected complicated circumstances to equip you in helping students to remain eligible for their federal financial aid.
