Social Emotional Learning and the College Connection

Speakers: Jonathan Martin

Social and Emotional Learning is not just for elementary school anymore. Researchers have established compelling evidence for the value social and emotional skills provide in enhancing students' likelihood of enrolling in and persisting in college. ACT, whose mission is helping people achieve education and workplace success, has recently expanded its programs for Social and Emotional Learning. In this session, we will review the evidence for the importance of SEL in secondary schools, and explore key strategies schools and school counselors can employ to strengthen SEL for all students.
