ISRC Training Sessions

Our team offers training for UA faculty, staff, & administrators in a variety of formats to meet all learning styles and needs. The training sessions will help develop the skills and knowledge needed to best meet the needs of students and families from immigrant and refugee backgrounds.

Participants will learn an overview of terminology, policies, and legislation that impacts students from immigrant and refugee backgrounds. This interactive session includes a formal presentation, discussions, and activities that help faculty, staff and administration develop ways to support undocumented and DACA students at the UA.

Participants can bring questions and share updates on how you/your department are supporting undocumented and DACA students. ISRC staff will guide a discussion generated by participants' questions about DACA, internships for undocumented students, scholarships, and more. Coffee, tea, & snacks can be provided by the ISRC.

This training includes a presentation, discussions, and action planning. Participants will receive an overview of terminology, policies, and legislation that impact students from immigrant and refugee backgrounds, and will develop ways to support undocumented and DACA students at the UA. Lunch can be provided by the ISRC. 

Intended Audience: Ideal for teams from departments or colleges. Open to all students, staff, faculty, & administrators.

Participants will create strategies to implement as individuals, departments and colleges to better work with and for undocumented and DACA students. Participants will receive brief updates about immigration and education policies. ISRC staff will guide small- and large-group discussions using research and personal testimonies. Lunch is provided. 

Intended Audience: Ideal for teams from departments or colleges. Open to all staff, faculty, & administrators.

Join us for a full-day of testimonials, research, food, and productive fun, where you can acquire the tools to better prepare, protect, and support students from immigrant and refugee backgrounds. All attendees will be challenged to think about how to provide resources to undocumented, DACA, refugee, and TPS youth; and learn how to better serve as an accomplice to these student populations. Meals are provided. Co-sponsored by ScholarshipsA-Z, Higher Ground & a grant from the Unitarian Universalist Fund for a Just Society.

Intended Audience: Staff, faculty & administrators with limited understanding about immigration policies
