The MESA Summer Program (MSP) is a FREE 120-hour summer program for current 8th graders that will be incoming high school students (most recently serving Sunnyside and Tucson Unified School Districts) that allows participants to be active as they learn about algebraic concepts through fun, project-based activities.

In addition to the math preparation, students focus on their futures as they gain skills in MESA, learn about college preparation, and explore career opportunities that match their interests.  The purpose of MSP is to provide students with a foundation and understanding of algebra they can build upon to achieve success in their future mathematics courses and on their path to a university education.

MSP is not a substitute for Algebra I.  Instead, participants will earn 1.0 unit of elective high school credit.

The MESA Summer Program will serve 25-30 student participants on a first-come, first-served basis at Alta Vista High School.  Program serves students entering 10th grade in high school during the 2025-2026 academic year.
