ACT Test Preparation
The ACT is a national college admissions examination that consists of subject area tests in: English, Math, Reading and Science. The ACT with writing includes the four subject area tests plus a 40-minute writing test. ACT results are accepted by all four-year colleges and universities in the US. The ACT includes 215 multiple-choice questions and takes approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes to complete, including a short break (or just over four hours if you are taking the ACT with writing). Actual testing time is 2 hours and 55 minutes (plus 40 minutes if you are taking the ACT with writing).

SAT Test Preparation

The redesigned SAT is a three-hour, primarily multiple-choice test that measures reading, writing, language and and mathematical reasoning abilities that develop over time. An optional essay component has been added which adds 50 minutes of test time. Many colleges require SAT scores for admission.  The PSAT and SAT tests measure the same skills and knowledge in ways that make sense for different grade levels, so it’s easier for students, parents, and educators to monitor student progress.

The University of Arizona Think Tank offers an SAT Exam Preparation Course that costs $300 (currently Tucson Unified School District students may apply for a full scholarship to cover the cost).  The course involves 6 Saturdays meetings, approximately 4 hours each.  The course is offered twice in the fall and three times in the spring.  "...instructors will review required content knowledge in math, reading and writing, will help you identify your strengths and weaknesses, teach you how to pace and budget your time, and cover test taking techniques that work!"  For more information and to register, please visit their website by clicking here --> UA Think Tanks' SAT Exam Preparation Course
