Myshell Molina

Padre Promotor
My name is Myshell Molina.  I am born and raised here in Tucson, Arizona. I graduated from Tucson High and attended Pima Community College but never completed my degree. I now have seven beautiful children that range from 23 through 4 years of age. My two oldest have graduated high school and are in the military. I have one daughter who is a freshman in high school at the Vail School District. Two of my boys attend Esperanza Elementary and my youngest daughter attends Gallego Primary and my youngest son who is in pre-school.    The first time I heard about the CAP Program was about three years ago through a notice sent home with my kids. My mother mentioned it to me and at first I didn’t think much of it. I was interested, but I already had a full plate with the kids schooling, tutoring, kids soccer practice, gymnastics and everyday dealings of being a working parent.  As the first meeting arrived my mother said she was going and taking my niece and nephew.  She asked if I wanted to go, reluctantly I decided to go… not really knowing what to expect.  To my surprise, my world had changed.  Not only was it loaded with tons of knowledge about college I didn’t image I needed to know. It also allowed me and my family to understand the process and that college is a possibility for them. I especially loved all the wonderful guest speakers and the staff who answered all our questions, and if they did not have an answer they would get back to you with an answer.   My three elementary children to this day are talking about college, even started saving their allowances for college.  CAP has planted a seed in my children to start planning for college I thought they were too young to think about.     Whenever I get a chance I am always recommending other family and friends to attend CAP, so when Janette asked if I wanted to be a part of Padres Promotres, I jumped at the opportunity.  I felt that maybe not everyone is able to devote 12 weeks to the CAP program or that they were not from the SUSD in some way we could still allow families to have the information through Padres Promotres. My children know they will be going to college just like they know they will be going to middle school and high school. It has been a wonderful experience and I highly recommend attending the CAP program or to our Padres Promotres
